Bloodword moth

Zygaena laeta

A burnet with a wingspan of 26-35 mm. Also called the “crepuscular burnet,” this species lives on warm dry slopes, grassland, pastures, and steppe. Host plants include eryngo (Eryngo spp.). This species flies July through August.
