Eastern mazarine blue

Cyaniris bellis antiochena

A small blue with a wingspan of 30-42 mm, resembling the mazarine but larger and males are a lighter blue. The eastern mazarine lives in alpine pastures, grassland, and on stony mountainsides. Host plants include the legumes birdsfoot-trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), melilot (Melilotus officinalis), and red clover (Trifolium pratense). It flies in the months of April and May, the flight is slow.
