Guichard’s hairstreak – LEPIDOPTERA LIBANOTICA

Guichard’s hairstreak

Satyrium guichardi

A hairstreak with a wingspan of 28-38 mm, resembles the Persian of which it is sometimes considered a subspecies. The Guichard’s lives in scrub, woodland, and on dry stony slopes. Although not studied well, the host plants probably include the almond tree (Prunus amygdalus) and the oleaster (Elaeagnus spp.). Like the Persian, this butterfly likely flies in the months of June and July.
