Lebanese festoon

Allancastria deyrollei eisneri

A larger festoon with a wingspan of 62-85 mm, differing from the eastern by black shanks and legs, and three hindwing projections instead of one. The Lebanese lives in drier parts of the country, in plains, steppes, and stony mountains. Host plants are mainly birthworts (Aristolochia spp.). This butterfly flies from April through June.
