Peak white – LEPIDOPTERA LIBANOTICA

Peak white

Pontia callidice chrysidice

Another Bath white butterfly with a wingspan of 42-52 mm, resembles the Bath but slightly larger and with less distinct markings. The peak, also called the “lofty Bath white,” as the name suggests, is one of the few butterflies that inhabits high mountains above the tree line, in alpine meadows, grassland, and tundra. Host plants include bittercresses (Cardamine spp.), blistercresses (Erysimum spp.), and mignonettes (Reseda spp.). This butterfly flies from June through early August, the flight is fast.
