Sympetrum meridionale

A small dragonfly with a body length of 35-40 mm and a hindwing length of 25-30 mm, the orange-red abdomen in males, black-lined yellow abdomen in females, and black-striped yellow legs are characteristic. This dragonfly lives in non-shaded, hot shallow ponds, lakes, rivers, and marshes. This species flies May through October, spending much time perched on the water’s edge.
