Syrian demoiselle

Calopteryx syriaca

A large damselfly with a body length of 40-48 mm and a hindwing length of 28-30 mm, males a darker blue while females dark green, often considered a subspecies of the banded. This damselfly lives in running water, creeks, streams and rivers, as well as in springs and irrigation ditches. This endemic species flies April through September and is considered endangered.
