Vine hawkmoth

Hippotion celerio

A large hawkmoth with a wingspan of 70-80 mm, also called the “silver-striped hawk-moth.” This species prefers gardens and flowery grassland. Host plants include arum (Arum spp.) and grapevine (Vitis spp.). This moth flies May through September, and is migratory.
