Common hooktail

Paragomphus genei

A fairly small dragonfly with a body length of 37-50 mm and a hindwing length of 20-26 mm, the only species with a characteristic hooked tail and green thorax. This dragonfly lives in slow-flowing open streams, intermittent rivers, pools, lakes, and marshes. The common flies in the summer months, spending much of its time perched on rocks and plants.
