Coenagrion scitulum

A small blue and black damselfly with a body length of 30-33 mm and a hindwing length of 14-20 mm. Also called the “dainty damselfly,” this species lives in sunny shallow standing water such as ponds, lakes, and swamps, as well as slow-flowing rivers with plenty of submerged hydrophytes like water-milfoil (Myriophyllum spp.) and hornwort (Ceratophyllum spp.). This species flies May through September.
