Acherontia atropos

One of the larger moths with a wingspan of 80-130 mm, males typically smaller. This species lives in many types of habitats. Host plants are members of the nightshade (Solanaceae), hemp (Cannabaceae), olive (Oleaceae), and sesame (Pedaliaceae) families. This moth flies May through October, and is a migratory species.
