Orthetrum chrysostigma

A medium-sized dragonfly with a body length of 39-48 mm and a hindwing length of 27-32 mm, the green eyes, colouration (sky blue in males, yellowish-brown in females), white and black lines on the thorax, and a small yellow patch at the base of the hindwing are diagnostic. This dragonfly lives in slow-flowing streams and rivers, as well as standing water such as shallow lakes, marshes, and swamps. This species is on the wing nearly year-round, spending much of its time perched on the water’s edge.
