Freyeria trochylus trochylus
A very small argus with a wingspan of 14-20 mm, males and females both being brown with large and conspicuous orange markings. The grass jewel lives in dry habitats, such as coasts, farmland, stony places, grassy areas, and semi-desert. Host plants include bastard sedum (Andrachne teleiphioides), heliotrope (Heliotropium hirsutissimum), and Sinai manna (Alhagi spp.). This butterfly flies March through October, the flight is characteristically slow, halting, and very close to the ground, often being overlooked or mistaken for another type of insect.
