Satyrium myrtale myrtale

A hairstreak with a wingspan of 28-34 mm, resembles the ilex but smaller and lighter. The Lebanese lives in scrub at higher elevations. The host plant associated with this butterfly is the Lebanese barberry (Berberis libanotica). This species flies from late June through August.
