Lederer’s fritillary

Melitaea collina collina

A small fritillary with a wingspan of 30-40 mm, resembles the knapweed but smaller. The Lederer’s lives in many different types of habitats, in coastal farmland, meadows, thickets, and on mountainsides. Host plants include species of phlomis (Phlomis spp.). This species flies April through early June.
