Anax parthenope
A larger brown and blue dragonfly with a body length of 62-75 mm and a hindwing length of 44-51 mm, characterised by its green eyes (yellowish or brown in females), a small, dark triangular-shaped marking on top of the frons, a light olivaceous-brown thorax with brownish sutures, and blue and black markings on the abdomen. This dragonfly prefers standing and intermittently-flowing water such as ponds and lakes, rarely slow-flowing water, and tolerates brackish water. The lesser flies June through September, sometimes earlier, and is active at dusk.
