Anax immaculifrons

A very large bluish-green dragonfly with a body length of 80-86 mm and a hindwing length of 54-60 mm, distinguished by its sapphire-blue eyes and light reddish-brown and black abdomen, spotted pink in males and yellow in females. Also called the “blue Darner,” this dragonfly lives in the deeper, secluded parts of sunny slow-flowing streams, in hills and mountains. This species flies May through August.
