Aeshna mixta

A large dragonfly with a body length of 54-64 mm and a hindwing length of 37-42 mm, males a brownish-blue while females yellowish-brown in colour, and distinguished by a brown thorax with yellowish patches and a yellow T-shaped marking on the abdomen. This dragonfly prefers sunny standing or slow-moving water surrounded by reeds, such as ponds, lakes, ditches, streams, and rivers, but also tolerates brackish water. This species flies June through November, spending much of its time on the wing with little rest, looks dark in flight.
