Coenagrion ornatum
A small blue and black damselfly with a body length of 30-31 mm and a hindwing length of 17-24 mm, distinguished by its toothed postocular spots and trident- and spear-shaped black abdominal markings in males. This damselfly lives in well-vegetated sunny creeks, streamlets, irrigation ditches, and springs with bulrush (Scirpus spp.), bur-reed (Sparganium spp.), water lily (Iris pseudacorus), water mint (Mentha aquatica), and watercress (Nasturtium officinale). The ornate flies May through September.
