Polyommatus poseidon mesopotamica
A small blue with a wingspan of 25-35 mm, males are a pale silvery-blue with white fringes and a white streak on the undersides. The Poseidon lives at high elevations, on rocks, cliffs, stony slopes, and mountain pastures. The host plants associated with this butterfly are the hedysarums (Hedysarum spp.). This species flies late June through August, and is considered endangered.
