Steely argus

Aricia crassipuncta

An argus with a wingspan of 28-30 mm, males and females are different shades of brown, like all argus butterflies, with orange or orange-red spots. The steely lives in many types of habitats, in steppe, grassland, pastures, and stony mountainsides. The host plant associated with this butterfly is the hemlock stork’s-bill (Erodium cicutarium). This species flies in the months of July and August.
