Proserpinus proserpina

A medium to large hawkmoth with a wingspan of 36-60 mm. The willowherb lives in sandy places, flowery meadows, woodland clearings, and forest margins. Host plants include willowherb (Epilobium spp.), loosestrife (Lythrum spp.), and sundrops (Oenothera spp.). This moth flies March through August, in several generations.
